2020 Actionable Science for Urban Sustainability (un)Conference: COVID-19 update
Together with various academic collaborators, Metabolism of Cities is co-organising an (un)conference on urban sustainability: the 2020 Actionable Science for Urban Sustainability (AScUS). This event will serve as a convergence platform for researchers and practitioners of all backgrounds (from political science and psychology to architecture and engineering) focused on the development of actionable and scalable solutions and their transfer to implementers.
Originally scheduled to take place at IE University in Segovia (Spain), this (un)conference has had a strong virtual, remote component already built into the activities. In contrast to a traditional academic conference, focused primarily on presentations in front of a large audience followed by a few minutes for questions, this event aims to encourage a more comprehensive debate and to provide a platform for contact and communication between all participants. All presentations will be pre-recorded and shared amongst all participants ahead of time. There will be other virtual events that take place before the conference itself.
The in-person event will not feature any individual presentations and instead focuses on facilitating an exchange between all members of the audience. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, this event may change into a remote-only (un)conference. While abstract submission has closed, signups will soon open and potential participants can still contribute ideas around discussion topics. Read more on the ASCuS website.
